WHAT IS PROJECT KING?
Project KING provides an exceptional two-year extracurricular program that virtually connects secondary school students from across the globe. Engaging in real-time interactive activities and discussions, students can flourish in a unique international distance learning program that promotes education, empowerment, and the pursuit of excellence. The Program aspires to develop a “leadership heart" in students by instilling an awareness of shared global concerns such as: human dignity, nonviolence, social/economic awareness, the promotion of peace, and the shared international COVID19 experience. An accomplishment of this program will be Kids Impacting Nations Globally (K.I.N.G.) through a service-in-learning project. Students are required to attend weekly meetings, complete an in-service learning project, and work with a life coach and a mentor.
WHO PARTICIPATES IN PROJECT KING?
Project KING is a highly competitive scholar's program. Students will hail from three continents including: Europe, Africa, and North America. Four countries have committed to Project KING, making it a groundbreaking movement for education and sustainable student development. Due to the intense nature of the program and the amazing resources offered, only six students from each country will be offered a seat in the class of 2021-2023.
WHEN DOES PROJECT KING MEET?
Project KING classes are always held on Saturdays. Times vary, depending on where a student resides. Please contact us directly for more information at king@summasan.com . Onboarding for each country begins on April 10-June 26th, 2021. Students will have summer break, then resume their classes in September 2021.
WHERE IS PROJECT KING LOCATED and WHERE DO CLASSES MEET?
Project KING is a virtual learning program headquartered in New York City. Each onboarded country is considered a satellite participant.
Rapid technological changes, COVID19, and current social changes in traditional classroom education have radically affected student gatherings. In response to these impacts, Project KING has created a supportive, healthy alternative. All classes for Project KING will be held on an international learning management system (LMS). Each virtual learning space has a library, classroom, interactive chat rooms, tutoring space, email, and a learning center.
WHAT ARE TOP FIVE BENEFITS OF JOINING PROJECT KING?
- Students will have a credible and valuable experience on a resume for a first job, college application, or a scholarship application.
- Student partners with local organizations to complete a leadership project that makes sustainable impact in the community.
- Students will make friends with students from around the world and form global network.
- There is a support team of students, mentors, coaches, teachers, and pod leaders who will ensure that students progress toward unified goals and learn valuable leadership skills.
- Project KING is the first international virtual program of its kind which makes it UNIQUE. Students will graduate as the first cohort of this new program.
WHO CAN APPLY TO PROJECT KING?
Eligibility:- Student must be in secondary school.
- Attend a virtual EMPOWER interview.
- Student should identify a personal unique quality or trait.
- Student must be in good academic standing.
- Have a passionate desire to serve their community and the world around them.
- Open to all students who are interested in service leadership.
- Open to all students willing to learn about the world.
- Student should be comfortable interacting on virtual classroom camera (Zoom type). Students must participate on camera during class.
- Student must complete an application packet.

- Empower will respond and send to you an application via email within 48 hours.
- Due to Covid, the application deadline has been extended to March 15, 2021.

MEET OUR GLOBAL AMBASSADORS
WHAT IS J.E.T.? (NYC, NY, CT ONLY)
J.E.T. (Junior Executive Team) is an in-person college readiness program for high school students. College readiness classes are vital to the success of our JET team. In 2019, responding immediately to the shutdown of our academic and social institutions due to the pandemic, EMPOWER successfully transitioned to a remote learning methodology to effectively guide JET students through the 2020 COVID19 school closings. Our recent graduate secured a scholarship at Vanderbilt University. JET students take pride in their accomplishments because… JET students make good things happen.
This 2-year program provides:
- A safe space for students to engage in leadership skills and character development through workshops, educational classes, and in-service learning projects.
- During their two-year tenure, students are assigned a mentor and an academic counselor for the entirety of their program. Students work with an executive team of professionals in the NYC community to complete their service-learning project.
Students interested in applying to JET:
- Email empower@summasan.com for an application.
- Must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
- Must interview with the EMPOWER staff.
- Students should be interested in leadership and attending college.
- JET meets on Sundays from 12pm-3pm in person in New York City. However, due to COVID19, classes will be online until September 2021. Program starts April 11, 2021.
